How Can I Help You?
In crafting the text for your webpages, you have only a few moments
to grab your reader's attention. Generally, people are scanning when
they check out your site. Your use of headline, subtitles and spacing
is crucial to keeping your readers' attention. An informative article
can give your visitor a reason keep reading, but it's the headline
and subtitles that first entice them to stay.
Always remember to focus on what your products or services can do
for your visitors rather than upon how great your business is. For
example, even though one of our specialities is logo creation, you
may notice that Startunz Productions doesn't have a huge logo at the
top of each page. That's because we know that our visitors aren't
interested in our logo - visitors want to know what we can do for
THEM. Most readers are scanning quickly through your site to see if
you have something worthwhile to offer them.
Your headline should immediately let visitors know what you can do
for them. Notice: this is not how wonderful your business is. It's
how you can help them out. Focus on the benefits you provide
to them. Your visitors do not really care about your company, products,
or services. Tell them what you can do for THEM. For example, here's
what not to say:
"StarTunz Productions excels at creative web site
design. While some designers code well, they have no idea of how to
present artists and musicians, and we're experts at the artistic end
of webdesign. We'll add custom graphics and great audio content to
your site."
YAWN! Who
cares? Instead, try something like this:
"What's in it for YOU? You get a great looking, effective
site based upon YOUR ideas and goals. We'll save you time and money
because we are a one stop web service - we'll host you, provide
your merchant account, design your site and submit it to search
engines. You can have it ALL quickly and with no hassles. Just tell
us what you want and you've got it!"
Do you see the difference? The first example discusses how wonderful
StarTunz is. The second discusses what YOU get from us. Offer something
of value to others, and you'll be successful.
Create a Genuine Relationship with your Clients
Personal
Contact:If you merely provide a product and don't communicate or respond
to your clients, you've made one sale. But you won't make another
from them. Conversely, if you go that extra step for your clients,
they'll be back. I try to personally respond to all my cleints..and
it does take some amount of effort! I make sure every designing client
is happy with their site, and help them with their promotion. I make
sure I'm available by email, human-click, and telephone. I've discovered
that I get a lot of word-of-mouth recommendation this way - and it
feels great to know my cleints are happy.
Reliable
Recommendations:Visitors can come to startunz.com and get involved
in affiliate programs that I myself am involved in...and not just
a bunch of junk advertisements. They know I'm not steering them into
a wasteland. Keep this in mind when adding affiliate programs and
advertisements to your site. Can your visitors trust your judgement?
If so, they'll be back!
Your web site must establish credibility.
Credibility is the missing link in many web sites. Sure, you've
established interest and desire in your product, but why should your
prospects trust you? Step one to credibility is providing a good clean
site and information that backs up your promises.
Testimonials are one of your keys to credibility.
Don't be afraid to ask your clients for testimonials -- many will
enjoy writing them! Take a look at our Clients
page for some examples. I usually ask a client for a couple sentences,
sometimes they volenteer more! And, I change them from time to time,
so visitors can see different comments.
Make sure to keep your client's testimonials on file. You can add
them to your site or even e-mails if appropriate.
Offer another product at the time of purchase
The best time to make another sale to an existing customer is right
after they have purchased from you and still have their credit card
in their hands. You may increase your profits by 10% - 30% by offering
another related product on your thank you page.
Use the Internet for a Resource
Take a look at ads in the classifieds. Which headlines are getting
your attention, and which do you ignore? Take note of catch phrases
that pique your curiosity, and copy them. Use your junk mail the same
way, before you delete! Scan the headlines and take notes of the good
ones. Good copywriters study other people's work. You can do the same.
If you don't have time or inclination to practice your ad writing
skills, consider hiring someone to write good copy for you. Good copy
will sell your product -- poorly written copy won't.
